Description |
Castlepoint provides isn't just about the lighthouse, though the view from the lookout just above it is well worth the climb. There's also beautiful beach which encloses a shallow laggoon. barred by a line of that as the tide sloshes and splashes over. Add to that the dunes at the back of the beach, and a walkway that curves through them up to Castle Rock - add all lthat together and this is a great place for dogs and humans alike. The beach is off-leash for digs, but some care is nevertheless needed, because it's used as a car park by all the ute-drivers who seem unwilling to walk the hundred metres from road to sea. And on either side of the walkway up to the lighthouse there are steep cliffs, so it's certainly advisable to keep dogs on leash there. Leashes are required for the Deliverance Bay walk up to Castle Rock. Since 2023 part of this has been closed due to a large landslip, but there's still enough that's open to make the walk worthwhile. From lighthouse to Castle Rock, it isn't much more than 1500 metres, but with the enticements of the beach and laggoon as well, it's easy to spend a couple of hours here. |
